The Hungarian Federation of Modern Dance Sports (MTMSz) has been established at the end of 2003 as the Hungarian member for the International Dance Federation (IDF). Accepting the aims and regulations of IDF, the Hungarian federation has got full scope of activities in the field of modern dance sports and the artistic dances.

The competition system of IDF provides for a new alternative approach to all the competitors being interested in dance competitions since in this system the participants can have a comparison and the opportunity of learning from each other besides realtively low costs as compared to other systems and under clear and simple conditions. IDF's Hungarian member, the Hungarian Federation of Modern Dance Sports is happy to welcome as its members all the dancing teams and clubs having legal entity. Activity and operation of MTMSz is not against any other organization, and the members in MTMSz are not obstructed in any manner to have contacts with other dance organizations. At the moment, MTMSz has 26 member clubs from towns all over Hungary. In the mini, youth, junior and adult age group, the number of registered dancers is more than 1.100.

Even in the first year of operation, the Hungarian federation has got a very important role in IDF – we could organize the IDF 2nd World Championship of Modern Dance Sports in Hungary in 2004. After having a very successful World Championship here last year, the Town of Győr has got the high distinction of organizing the World Championship of 2005 also at Győr. For the Hungarian participants, the qualification of participation at the World Championship can be acquired through the starting and getting proper placements on the Hungarian championship of MTMSz. The member clubs of MTMSz can nominate the dances having starting licence for the national championship. Information about the membership in MTMSz can be received from the vice president for organization cases, namely Mr. Csaba Vincze at .The first, preliminary round of the national championship will be on March 6th, 2005 and from this, the best five of each category can go to the final round of the National championship. The final round will be on April 3rd, and here the best three receives the qualification for representing the nation on the World Championship. The World Championship will be held from May 26th to May 29th at the Magvassy Sports Hall, Győr.
