Under the resolution of the IFMD 2011 Annual General Meeting, the 2012 World Championships of the International Federation of Modern Dance Sports will be organized and held in Hungary in 2012 at the end of June.
Due to the increase in the IFMD membership and the number of nominated dances, this year the greatest events of the IFMD Artistic Dance Field will be separated for the first time from the World Championship of the Sports Dance Field. This way the extremely long competition days can be avoided, while the dancers and the jury has the possibility to concentrate fully on the actually competing dance disciplines.
IFMD provides for the full information supply to the national representatives through E-mail circulars but the most important items concerning these competitions are also included on this website to facilitate the properly qualified participants preparations.
Please, do not forget about the following important items:
- the IFMD events may only be attended by the members;
- the national representatives have the obligation and responsibility to provide for the full information to and preparation of their own competitors, respectively;
- should You have any questions after reading thoroughly the IFMD circulars and website info, please contact Your national representative;
- only the dances qualified according to the IFMD regulations on the respective national competitions may be nominated to the World Championships;
- the national nomination quota for the World Championships is generally ONLY three dances for one category per one member nation. Four dances can be nominated for the SOLO categories. Furthermore, there are no more than only 3 (three) WILD CARD possibilities for each national representatives which can be used also only for solo dances. The IFMD Ranking List provides for further qualification possibilities but only and exclusively for the 1st and 2nd place winners of the summarized ranking in solo, duo and couple categories.

The venues of the World Championships are in the Lake Balaton region. This is the most popular touristic centre of Hungary and in consequence, vacancies are generally available only in high prices and in limited volumes. This means, that the very friendly priced offers of the local organizers are the only surely available accomodations.
IFMD keeps the already well established practice concerning the sequence of the disciplines and categories.
On June 23rd, the riser age group will compete in the morning hours, while the competitor age group will compete in the afternoon and evening. The sequence of the categories will be solo, duo, couple, small group and formation, while the artistic dance disciplines will follow in alphabetic order.
For the June 28th-July 1st period, IFMD will provide the time schedule after the first summarization of the nominations in order to provide for the most advantageous solutions in respect of the accomodation order.
Please consider the deadlines both for the nomination and the orders. Late nominations simply can not be considered.
