IDF 3rd World Championship and 2nd European Championship of Modern Dance Sports

at Győr, the Town of Dance Fans

It has been a distinctive honour to the town and MARINA TSC that we have been appointed by IDF (International Dance Federation - seated in Italy) with the intent of organizing the World and European Championships here at Győr in 2004. After having this huge event with great success, we received the even higher distinction: besides the acknowledgement of the MARINA TSC of Győr as the participants in organization, the General Meeting of IDF made a resolution giving again the right of organizing the World Championship to the Town of Győr also in 2005.

This means a huge international event in respect of the fourteen dance disciplines of sports character belonging to IDF activities. The categories are solo, couple/duo, small group and formation, while the age groups interested are mini, youth, junior, adult. The period of the event is: from May 26th to May 29th, 2004. Considering the high number of competition catagories as well as the increase int he number of participating nations, the anticipated number of the dancers will be approx. from 900 to 1.200, and as a result, the competition will be going on during 3 days, for 14 hours each day. The site of the competition will be the suitable renewed Magvassy Sports Hall and the surrounding nice green park area.

On the field of different dance branches, MARINA Training Sports Club and the Sports Directoriate of Town Győr organized a number of successful events together. There were four FIT-KID competitions, among them the first FIT-KID Europe Cup in 2000, two fashion dance competitions of high fame, and two outstandingly successful international stage dance competitions already organized and executed by this couple of organizers. As a new participant, the Hungarian Federation of Modern Dance Sports joined to these experienced organizers when making the IDF World Championship of 2004, and thus an outstandingly well established professional cooperation could result in a very good competition. This was considered also, when the resolution has been made that this huge international competition can be organized again at Győr.

The IDF World Championship of 2005 will not only increase the choice of the great international, continental and world sports events to be organized in the Town of Győr, but will also offer a good weekend programme as well for all the visitors coming to Győr at that time. Besides, fitting in the line of other cultural and dance events in a very good date, the World Championship will also provide high level of cultural amusement and a good May-end fun.

Boogie-woogie, Break, Caribbean, Dance Show, Disco Dance, Disco Freestyle, Electric boogie, Fantasy, Free show, Funky, Hip-hop, Rock'n Roll, Tip-Tap, Twist.

Competitions will be staged in almost 160 categories, meaning that there will be a real dance feast celebrated at the Magvassy Sports Hall at Győr on the last weekend of May.
